Hi, my name is Gen.
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, confusing, or simply too much to carry on your own.
Perhaps anxiety is stopping you from enjoying life.
Maybe you are living with the effects of trauma, constantly overthinking, struggling to relax or feeling emotionally exhausted.
You may be finding relationships difficult, questioning yourself or wondering why the same patterns keep repeating.
In those times, having someone alongside you can make a real difference, because every journey is a little easier when made alongside a caring and supportive fellow traveller.

At Willow Room Therapy,
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can slow down, feel heard and begin to understand yourself in a different way.
Together, we will work at a pace that feels right for you, helping you make sense of your experiences and move towards a calmer and more fulfilling life.

Why choose Willow Room Therapy?
Before becoming a counsellor and psychotherapist, I spent over 20 years working as a Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurse.
During that time, I supported people through many different emotional, psychological and life difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, autism, learning disabilities and complex mental health needs.
Today, I combine this professional experience with my counselling training and specialist knowledge of trauma, nervous system regulation and neurodiversity.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth and compassionate. I will not judge you or expect you to have all the answers.
Together, we can begin to understand what has happened to you, how it may still be affecting you and what may help you feel safer, calmer and more in control of your life.
Above all, I believe that every person deserves to feel accepted, understood and valued.

Therapy
Our work will begin with understanding what has brought you to seek support and what you would like to be different
Is this how you are feeling?
You may recognise some of these experiences:
-
You constantly worry or overthink.
-
You feel anxious, overwhelmed or on edge.
-
You have experienced trauma that still affects your life today.
-
You find it difficult to trust yourself or other people.
-
You often put everyone else’s needs before your own.
-
You struggle with low self-esteem or feel that you are not good enough.
-
You are living with ADHD or autism and often feel misunderstood.
-
You feel stuck and do not know how to move forward.
-
You are coping on the outside but feel exhausted inside.
If any of these sound familiar, you are not alone.
Many people come to therapy because they have spent a long time trying to manage everything by themselves. Reaching out can be the first step towards understanding what is happening and finding a different way forward.

A free 30-minute introductory meeting
I understand that choosing a therapist can feel difficult.
The relationship between you and your therapist is an important part of counselling, and it matters that you feel comfortable, safe and understood.
For this reason, I offer a free 30-minute introductory meeting.
This can be an opportunity for us to meet, get to know each other and talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy. You can ask me questions, find out more about how I work and decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you.
There is no obligation to continue afterwards.
The meeting is simply a chance for you to see how you feel before deciding whether you would like to begin your therapy/counselling.
What you can expect.......
I understand that taking those first steps on your counselling journey can feel very daunting, and maybeeven a bit frightening, but I offer a safe and confidential space for you to explore any difficulties you areexperiencing and create an empathetic, non-judgmental, warm and friendly environment for us to work in.
Our work will begin with me listening to what has been going on for you and what has brought you to seek some support. Using the most up-to-date tools and techniques we will, together, formulate a plan for moving forward, and then work through it in a way, and at a pace, that is right for you as an individual.
Every client is unique, so I am happy to undertake and support each session at your pace. I offer a hybrid approach combining online, telephone and/or face to face. The choice is yours.
Sessions can be fortnightly, weekly or varied. I aim to be as flexible as possible with appointments and times. Some people have sessions for a term, a year or for longer.
I offer just that, a space that is non-judgemental and safe.
My main practice based in a little village betwen Oxford and Witney, I also practice in Oxford and Witney.

Kind Words:
Gen was absolutely amazing at listening to me & encouraging me.
I found her very easy to bond with, at the end of my counseling I was amazed at how I felt.
A really positive experience for me that truly changed my life after years of struggling with complex PTSD
I am so very thankful for everything that I have been given the opportunity to learn ,understand why, understand the logic behind the actions and reasonings.
To be able to put my whole life so far into some sort of cared for understood order, and how emotion , places in our time lines affects so many actions and reasons why
To understand grief and the real depths of emotion that is attached to it in so many different facets
I think Gen got to know me well and was able to help facilitate a change in confidence towards aspects of my life that have been especially challenging. I am so grateful for the care and compassion, patience and understanding my counsellor has shown. I will never be anything but grateful that I was able to have this support. Thank you.
Gen was very helpful and always gave me space to fully express my feelings and feel heard. I didn't really know if anything was "happening" for a while but then suddenly found I had a lot more confidence and was starting to enjoy life a bit more.
Gen was amazing from start to finish. Her support was a major source of stability through a turbulent year.

I can’t thank you enough for your care, compassion and support over the last year.
I was in a very dark place and you listened, asked curious questions and provided fresh perspective on my emotions and feelings.
You also gave me validation, didn’t judge and most importantly never challenged.
I’d come from a life of challenge and whilst coaches, doctors, practitioners, mental health psychologists, psychiatrists and Occupational Health see challenging their patients as a skill, I only see it as a threat.
