Counselling for Students
Leaving home and becoming an adult can feel like it happens overnight. Moving away from your family, managing independence for the first time, forming new friendships, and coping with academic expectations can be exciting — but it can also be overwhelming and stressful. Many students find themselves under pressure from exams, deadlines, finances and the unspoken expectation to “cope” and enjoy what is meant to be the best time of their life.
Counselling offers a confidential, supportive space to talk through these challenges without judgement. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, low mood, loneliness, self-doubt, identity questions or the transition to independent living, I work alongside you at your pace. Together we can explore what is happening for you, strengthen your coping skills, and help you feel more grounded, confident and able to manage both university life and the changes that come with it.
Exam Anxiety and Academic Pressure
Exams, assessments and constant deadlines can create intense pressure, even for students who are usually confident and capable. Anxiety may show up as racing thoughts, poor sleep, panic, procrastination or fear of failure. In counselling, we work on calming the nervous system, managing unhelpful thought patterns and developing practical strategies to help you approach exams with greater clarity, balance and self-compassion.

Homesickness and Being Far From Home
Feeling homesick or unsettled when you move away from home is far more common than people admit. You may miss familiar routines, family, food, language or cultural comforts, while also trying to adapt to a new environment and expectations. I offer a supportive space to explore these feelings, strengthen emotional resilience and help you feel more settled, connected and grounded in your new life.

Support for International Students
Studying in another country can be an exciting and life-changing experience, but it can also bring additional pressures. Cultural adjustment, language differences, academic expectations, isolation and being far from your support network can all impact emotional wellbeing. I work sensitively and respectfully with international students, offering a safe, confidential space to talk openly and helping you navigate both the emotional and practical challenges of studying away from home.

Feeling Anxious? You’re Not Alone.
Feeling anxious, overwhelmed or unsure does not mean you’re failing or “not coping properly”. Many students experience anxiety during periods of change, pressure and independence — even if it doesn’t look that way from the outside.
Counselling is not about having all the answers or being in crisis. It’s simply a space to pause, talk things through, and get support while you find your feet. You don’t have to manage everything on your own.
